Year 5 Owl went sailing again today! This time they raced against each other using paddles rather than the sails. This was so that they could get used to the boat rocking and become more confident next week. They also learned what to do if boats capsize and some of our brave children practised this! There are more photos below of our exciting sailing lesson.2015-09-15 10.42.352015-09-15 10.43.11

On Wednesday 9th September, Year 5 Owl Class learned about how Queen Elizabeth had become the longest reigning British Monarch - beating Queen Victoria's record of 63 years, 7 months and 2 days! We watched the video below about the changes that have happened in the UK since her coronation.

We then thought about the qualities of good leaders and used this to create our own 'leadership crowns'. Each table created their own adding skills such as being resilient, an ability to keep calm, to give clear instructions and to listen to everyone.

We are looking forward to wearing our leadership crowns during group work soon!

On Monday 7th September, Year 5 gathered around the fire to be told a traditional Viking legend 'The Saga of Biorn'. They enjoyed a drink as their teachers performed the story around the fire as the Vikings used to do. Year 5 would like to thank Ruth for organising and tending to the fire.

Tonight was the first family swim of the school year at Easton Leisure Centre. Many of our families attended and had lots of fun swimming, using the floats, playing water football and using the slide! Miss Jenkins and Miss Foley enjoyed watching everyone enjoy themselves. image  image1

On Friday afternoon Year 5 Owl and Year 2 Enormous Crocodiles met for the first time as they are twinned with each other for the year! Owl class performed their story 'The Saga of Biorn' to Enormous Crocodiles and then we spent some time reading in partners! Both classes enjoyed this very much and are looking forward to meeting up again!
