Parents are usually involved in many ways at Hannah More. At the moment, we are very limited by the impact of covid-19.
We have a 'Friends' group as well. Friends of Hannah More secures grant funding and charitable donations for the benefit of the school and its local community and works in partnership with community groups to run activities. Like the PTA, the Friends group aims to develop and support families, foster a sense of belonging and extend a welcome to everyone in the community. Their latest annual report can be read here and the previous year's report is here. Due to a kind donation, Friends were able to help children with the cost of school uniform this September. Currently Friends are liaising with Greggs, who have offered to support some families who need household goods (limited to one item per family). Please speak to Ruth at school if you would like to know more. You can see some of the items that Greggs can support with here.
We know that open communication and consultation with parents is really important. Governors are keen to involve parents and carers in school developments and involve them in wider discussions. One way this happens is through our ‘Parents’ Voice’ meetings. These meetings are advertised in the newsletter. They provide an opportunity for parents to discuss current issues and raise any concerns.
We carried out a Parents Survey in March 2019 and the results are here. We were pleased to discover that 87% of parents feel their children make good progress; this was up from 68% in September 2018.
