Year 6 Camp Day 3

25 June 2015

On Wednesday everyone had a long sleep and woke up later than usual but still enjoyed there breakfast of beans on toast. Later in the day yr6 went paddle boarding and raft building. There was some amazing talent in both and quite a lot of falling in!

In the evening we took a new ginormous beach ball to play volleyball on the beach.

Our afternoon has continued with the same energy and enthusiasm as the morning. After a delicious lunch of soup & sandwiches, children chose between a range of different activities. Some children listened to and created stories in the dark, dark cellar; some children created friendship bracelets and others even created 'cordage' (string) from nettles.

Then there was much excitement as we went swimming in the outdoor pool. Despite the cold, the children had a great time playing games, diving and using the slide.

Children have gotten themselves dry and warm again and have been spending time playing games with their monitor in their dorms. Dinner is up soon, followed by more whole group games in the pack house.

Year 4 have had a good rest and are ready and raring to go for their second day in Ledbury.

At 8am the boys went out for a morning exercise and game. Then they went in for a delicious breakfast of cereal and toast and jam. Camron, Rutwan, Khalid, Rafael & Mohamed H took responsibility for clearing away after breakfast and impressed adults with their diligence and good work.

An unannounced dorm inspection caught the children by surprise. There were lots of messy beds and clothes lying around but all the campers have been given advice for how to make their dorms tidier for tomorrow!

We have now gathered on the lawn for the Hannah More Olympics featuring performances and games created by each of the groups.

Coming up later we have some whole group games, lunch and (possibly!) a trip to the swimming pool... exciting times!IMG 1309

On Monday 15th June, year 3 and 4 visited Dean Fields in the Forest of Dean. While there, children used collaboration to solve physical problems, learned to climb and went on a zip wire. It was a fantastic day!

Year 6 Camp Day 2

24 June 2015

After a very early start to Tuesday, the intrepid campers had a relaxed morning at camp. They made kites and flew them, played some games and made some birthday decorations for Lily! After lunch they headed off along the cliff top to Sandy Bay, admiring the beautiful views and the military base! They had a leisurely stroll back along the beach taking in some waves along the way. Tea was pasta bolognese with garlic bread - delicious!

Everyone went to sleep very quickly!

After an early start and a very excited coach ride, Year 4 have arrived in Ledbury for the start of their summer camp!

The children have met their monitors (group leader), found their dorms and unpacked their things. They went for a tour of the grounds and have already learned a few new games (being ninjas for a time seemed to be a particular favourite!).

Currently the groups are creating their own country, designing their own flags and finding special treasure around their newly-created nation!

Coming up next we have dinner followed up whole camp games in the pack house (after the washing up, of course). More updates to follow!

We walked along the beach at Exmouth and had our lunch by the sea. The seagulls were interested in the lunch too!

Then we climbed up the hill to the campsite and settled into our tents.

Later we had a circus skills workshop - juggling, plate spinning, diabolo - some very talented children indeed - Ms Ramsay was very impressed!!

Fish and chips for tea tonight!
