We are proud of our links with local businesses and recognise the range of support and expertise these partnerships offer us.
A group of ‘Reading Buddies’ read with children every week. Unfortunately this group has shrunk a bit since lockdowns, as lots of our volunteers from Coutts and Deloitte are still working from home. We still have a group of reading buddies from Revenue and Customs - some of them have been reading with children for fiftteen years!
We were delighted that TouchWoodplay.co.uk recently developed a beautiful learning and play space in the area outside Lavender, thanks to some fantastic individual donations. We have links with construction companies working in our local area - most recently Bouygues UK, who have renovated our chicken area ready to recevie some new chooks later this term! We have also been extremely pleased to receive generous funding from Wates Giving, who funded the renovation of our Sunflower room and Keir Construction who rebuilt our 'More 4 Kids Club' room in summer 2019.
First Base, who are developing part of the Gardiner Haskins site opposite school, organsied and funded a beautful Hannah More mural, painted by local artist Zoe Power, which is in the West corridor. They also supported us with food box donations during the pandemic.
We have links with Burges Salmon who regularly provide teams of volunteers to help with particular tasks and run festive craft afternoons. They have lent us training rooms, enabling our 'Bridging Gaps' cultural competence trainers to run exciting events. We have been grateful for all the Bonfire night volunteers and lunchtime gardening volunteers as well.
In 2018 we built a new link with Turner and Townsend. Each year they work with Year 3 on a special literacy project, supported by the National Literacy Trust. This lovely experience is currently running for the fourth time. The project helps to boost children's reading as well as providing the classes with new and exciting books.
