Ladybird and Caterpillar classes had a fabulous time this week visiting Bristol Zoo - find out more about their visit have a look at their class visit pages - here for Ladybird and here for Caterpillar.

On the 16th May Year 5 visited 'Into University' at Trinity Road library. Read more about the visit on their class visit page here.

The Space Dome came to Hannah More on the 7th May and Year 1 learnt all about the planets!

Each week this term we have focused on one of our school values and the children have carried out a challenge related to this. In week one, the Determination challenge was to create something to show what determination meant to them We had poems and videos and sculptures and art work! In week 2 the Openness challenge was for each class to introduce themselves to a mystery visitor and to learn by listening about that visitor. Governors, Business Partners and local community members visited the classes and were impressed with the chiildren's confidence and enthusisam. The third values challenge was about nurture and every child in the school has planted a sunflower seed. The challenge is to nurture that sunflower so it grows as tall as it can. We are looking forward to a fabulous crop of sunflowers on the school field in September.

Year 6 SATs

All last week, the Year 6 children were busy completing their annual SATs tests. They did tests in Reading and Maths and this year the government have introduced a new Grammar test as well. All the children showed maturity and focus during the week and were rewarded at the end with a trip to Hollywood Bowl!

On the 10th May the MP for Bristol West, Stephen Williams, came to visit Hannah More. He met with the school council, Elmer class and Woodpecker. He even invited Year 6 to visit him in the House of Commons later in the year.

Understanding our values has been a focus this term. Each week we have explored one of the values and each class has gone away with a challenge to complete during the week. Read more about the challenges below.

Determination - each class created something that represented their understanding of determination. This ranged from a film to a sculpture! Each class presented their work in celebration assembly on Friday.
