Year 4 Camp: Day 2

05 July 2017

We’ve had our first night at camp now and early this morning, all the boys in the boys’ corridor woke up at 6am! Despite the fact that they were awake, they didn’t make much noise.

After a delicious breakfast, a mysterious inspector came to inspect the tidiness of our rooms and to our disappointment nobody scored above 5 out of 10! There were a couple of sulks but we will do better tomorrow morning!

During the morning, we went for a long walk in the scorching hot sun with a challenge to find one thing for every letter of the alphabet. We saw lot of interesting flowers like foxgloves, lots of different shaped stones, lots of pigs and even piglets!

After this walk we all felt really tired but soon it was lunch time where we had some delicious hot soup! We were really looking forward to our swim later, but something more thrilling was about to happen first.

We all took part in the unusual and tense Olympics which first involved drawing our group monitors. But this was no ordinary drawing. I (Zaynab) and the other artists had to draw with our feet! If I didn’t have to draw with my feet it would have been much better. I (Fahad) had to gargle-sing a song for everyone else to guess! It was really intense though! Other children had to mummify each other in tissue paper, and some of us had to be blindfolded and guide others to the moon. Finally we had a paper airplane race! Fahad is very keen to include that he won this race!

Other things we did today included a group game where we had to collect points, and Fahad explained, “I had a really good time despite not winning!” We also continued our art work that we had started yesterday, and Mohamed Nuur reflected, saying “I’m enjoying this! At first it was hard but now I can do it.”

Even though it was cold, we all had a lot of fun in the swimming pool! As we write this, we are feeling tired but happy as we’ve really enjoyed the day.

We are now off to take part in an unknown challenge before we wind down for Cocoa and bed. Miss Skinner hopes we fall asleep quicker tonight so that we have lots of energy for tomorrow!
