Year 4 Camp: Day 1

04 July 2017

As we drove through the village of Tetbury, Mohamed M exclaimed, “it looks like we’re in a mythical land”. All the children were extremely excited on the journey to camp and could not stop asking “are we there yet?”

After we had a biscuit and a drink, everyone found their dorm rooms and made their beds before the first activity began!

Moments later, all the happy campers practised their best singing, learning new songs with lots of made up words and tongue-twisters. They are getting better each time they practise.

Excitedly, everyone went (in Gold Standard lines – just for you, Miss Ramsay) to their group tables to eat their delicious sandwich buffet, complete with fruit kebabs! Monitor Sam and his group cleaned, washed and put away everyone’s dishes.

Our afternoon activity involved creating a made up country, a chariot for its people, a country flag, a name for the country and a greeting. Greetings included throwing paper airplanes with messages inside, wiggling hips and dabbing (much to Miss Skinner’s dismay). There were also some rather impressive chariots! Monitor Imogen’s group’s chariot was the fastest race car in the country with a top speed of 1000mph.

By this point, the children had had a lot of fun and were quite tired. They were ready for another scrumptious meal, and cook Leigh did not disappoint!

As we write this, all of the groups are making lovely creations in their art sessions while Monitor Harriet’s group wash up.

We are now amazingly excited to go to the outside swimming pool tomorrow in the lovely sun and are missing you but having a lot of fun.

Co-written by Miss Skinner, Mohammed M, Cardo, Mohamed E & Toyina.
