Home Learning Day 1

PE

Literacy Task

This week in school we are still exploring the story – The Hungry Caterpillar.

Watch the video here:

Talk to your adult about what other food the caterpillar might like to eat.

Activity:

Can you draw a picture of 5 different foods that you think the caterpillar might like to eat? Use your sounds to label each picture.

Math Task

Today we are learning about ‘half’. When we ‘half’ something, we are sharing something into two groups.

Can you say ‘half’?

Sometime you might cut 1 item into two equal parts.

Sometimes you might share lots of things into two equal groups.

Halving means sharing into two groups. The groups have to be the equal (the same).

Activity

Look at these pictures. Do they show a half?

Is this half?

Home Learning Day 2

 Literacy Task

Use the food that you thought of yesterday to make your own version of the hungry caterpillar. Tell your story to an adult. You can use this structure to help you:

One day there was a hungry caterpillar.

On Monday he ate…

On Tuesday he ate…

On Wednesday he ate…

On Thursday he ate…

On Friday he ate…

The next day he was very fat. He built a cocoon. The next day he turned into a beautiful

butterfly.

Challenge:

Can you write a sentence from your story?

Extra challenge:

Can you write your whole story? Perhaps you could add pictures and make a little book.

Home Learning Day 3

Literacy Task

The hungry caterpillar eats a mixture of foods – some are healthy and some are unhealthy. It is important to eat healthy foods. Watch this episode of Get Well Soon to find out about the foods we need to eat to stay healthy.

Activity:

In the programme Doctor Raj shows us a video of a healthy plate. Look at the plate in the images. Can you find 5 healthy foods and 5 unhealthy foods in your home? Take a photo of them and add this to your ILD. In the images you can see a photo of the foods Mrs Sessions found.

Challenge:

Watch this video about being healthy.

Can you draw all of the different things we need to do to stay healthy? Label your pictures for an extra challenge.

Here are some more songs about eating healthy:
