We have a number of volunteers in school and we value the skills and expereinces that they bring.
Volunteers help in the classroom, help with reading, support school trips and visits, help with specific events and work alongside lunchtime staff or after-school activity leaders.
Class-based volunteers need to be confident English speakers and should have a good level of basic skills - this is equivalent to a level 1 qualification or above. At the moment we are particularly keen to recruit volunteers who can help our children develop broader vocabularies and a love of reading. There is some training for reading volunteers planned for November - for more information click here:
A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is carried out for all volunteers in school; we ask for a contribution of £10 to process these checks. A volunteering agreement is also completed and signed and, unless you are already known to school, we may request references as well. The volunteering agreement explains our guidelines regarding confidentiality, health and safety, child protection and communication.
Please note, we are generally happy to provde references for volunteers who have been with us for 3 months or more.
