At Hannah More we are proud of our links with local businesses and recognise the wealth of learning opportunities, support and expertise these partnerships offer to our school. We are excited about new links with the Engine Shed and Year 6 children have hugely enjoyed their visits.
A dedicated group of ‘Reading Buddies’ and 'Number Partners' come to school in their lunch hour every week to read or explore maths problems with children. These volunteers come from Deloitte and Revenue and Customs. We also have 'Craft Buddies' from the Institute of Physics Publishing! We are also very grateful to Deloitte for their sponsorship of school trips. These have included trips to the Bloodhound Project, to No. 1 Royal Crescent and summer outdoor literacy trips.
Last year we ran a group called 'Hannah More Investigators'. Each week children met a mystery guest from a different work background. Through careful questioning, the group discovered what job their guest had. They met an engineer, a hotel manager, a lawyer (and part-time pilot!), a rope artist, a Professor of Physiology and an audiologist - amongst others!
We have various links with Burges Salmon. They regularly provide teams of volunteers to help with particular tasks. We were grateful for all the Bonfire night volunteers - and to a brave team of pond clearers who spent an exhausting but productive day with us! Another team day is planned for Spring 2017. in the past we've enjoyed being part of the ‘Shaun in the City’ project - we painted our very own Shaun who then went on a tour of the area!
We also have a new link with Willmott Dixon who have run exciting challenge days for Key Stage 2 classes.
