At Hannah More we are very proud of our links with local businesses and recognise the wealth of learning opportunities, support and expertise these partnerships offer to our school. We are excited about new links with the Engine Shed and Year 6 children have hugely enjoyed their visits there.
A dedicated group of ‘Reading Buddies’ and 'Number Partners' come to school every week throughout the year, to read or explore maths problems with children. These volunteers come from Deloitte, Coutts and Revenue and Customs. Some of our buddies have been reading with children for over a decade! We are also very grateful to Deloitte for their sponsorship of school trips. These have included trips to the Bloodhound Project, to No. 1 Royal Crescent and an annual summer trip focussing on literacy, for children and buddies. Deloitte support us further by funding 'New Arrivals' books in the Hub.
We have also developed links with construction companies working in our local area and were extremely pleased to receive very generous funding from Wates Giving, to completely renovate our Sunflower room. This work finished in May 2019. We are thrilled to have developed a new partnership with Keir Construction, who will help to renovate More 4 Kids room in summer 2019. We haev also had help from Galliford Try, who have lent us a handyman to help with lots of tasks around school.
We have links with Burges Salmon. They regularly provide teams of volunteers to help with particular tasks and run festive craft afternoons. We have been grateful for all the Bonfire night volunteers - and to a brave team of pond clearers who spent an exhausting but productive day with us! This summer we hope to establish a gardening club at lunchtime as well.
This year we have also built a link with Turner and Townsend. They have worked with Year 3 classes on a special literacy project, supported by the National Literacy Trust. This has been a lovely experience whcih has boosted children's reading as well as providing classes with new and exciting books.
