Hello and Welcome to Year 1
My name is Miss Hall and I am the teacher of your child in Elmer class. Amy will also be working alongside your child as our class learning support assistant, and will be helping in small group interventions in the afternoon.
This year is a very important transitional year for your child, and we have planned lots of learning-through-play and exploration activities to help them settle into the more formal environment of Year 1.
I will be available in the mornings and at the end of the school day if you wish to discuss anything with me, however if you would prefer a longer meeting please let me know and I can organise one for afterschool.
Important Elmer Class Information:
Elmer class will spend their mornings in Literacy, Maths and Phonics lessons. They will also have a morning break and snack time every day to allow them time to play and keep up their energy. In the afternoon the children will experience a mixture of Topic, PSHE, Music, Handwriting and Guided Reading lessons.
Mrs Griffiths will teach the children on Tuesday morning.
Our Topic this term is History, and we will be investigating the history of Toys. During the term we will be taking the children to Blaise Castle for a History of Toys workshop... Blog to come soon!
Elmer will have P.E. lessons every Tuesday morning. Please make sure that your child ALWAYS has their PE kit on a Tuesday, including a tshirt, shorts and trainers.
Homework will be given out every Thursday, and expected back by Monday. If you have any questions about this please let me know.
Please read with your child every night, so that they become confident with their books.
